Big U

Eugene Henly, better known as “Big U,” is a towering figure both in stature, standing at 6 feet 5 inches, and in the community. Born and raised in South Central, Los Angeles, he grew up valuing brotherhood and camaraderie, principles instilled in him by influential figures in his life including his father, Eugene Henly Sr.

Big U is a multi-faceted individual, renowned as a street legend, a community activist, and a philanthropist. He has also carved out a successful career in the entertainment industry, where he is an executive and the owner of the record label “Uneek Music.”

Beyond his business endeavors, Big U is most proud of his role as a voice “for the streets, in the streets.” He is a staunch advocate for literacy and self-education, encouraging young black men to pursue higher education and build lasting legacies. His commitment to uplifting his community led to the establishment of the non-profit organization “Developing Options” in 2004, aimed at reducing gang violence, drug use, and crime in his community.

In the music industry, Big U has played a pivotal role in launching the careers of West Coast legends such as Kurupt and Nipsey Hussle, fostering talent and encouraging artists to cultivate their brands both within the community and the broader music industry.

Guided by his personal motto, “Nothing comes to a sleeper but a dream,” Big U emphasizes the importance of education and hard work to the youth, encouraging them to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals.
